The Firm

FARRAR GESINI & DUNN specialises in family law.

Established in 1995, we were the first legal firm in Canberra to practise exclusively in the area, and in 2005, became the first law firm in Australia to use collaborative lawyering, a process that sees family lawyers attempt to settle cases outside court.

Over the years we have built a reputation amongst both clients and colleagues for providing comprehensive and expert advice, and making what is often a painful process as straightforward as possible. Although we are dedicated to assisting clients outside the court process we are, when appropriate, able to represent and guide clients expertly through the court process.

This reputation is built on our strong relationships with a range of family law experts such as counsellors, mediators, psychologists, accountants, valuers and the courts’ administration, and has seen legal firms around Australia regularly refer clients to us for specialist advice on family law matters.

We currently have a team of 18 excellent lawyers who are backed by a strong team of support staff. We pride ourselves on being not only the leaders in the family law field, but also a firm at the forefront of technology and workplace developments.

We are proud to be recognised as one of the only workplaces in Australia to offer all our Team a four day working week, while continuing to be paid at full time rates. By doing this we continue to attract and maintain quality Team members and assist our Team in maintaining a healthy and happy work/ family balance.
