Modern Lawyer

Tim has a deep passion for all things estates whether it be estate planning, probate, estate administration, or estate dispute resolution.

Tim uses his deep understanding of estates law to bring clarity to his client’s matters. He has a particular ability to come up with simple solutions to tricky estate planning or estate administration needs.

Tim enjoys using his knowledge to save clients of administrative hassle during times of acute grief, avoiding unnecessary tax burdens, securing long-term pensions for surviving spouses, and minimising the risk of a legal fight about his clients’ wills.

Tim has considerable experience advising clients in relation to their rights and responsibilities where a Will is involved. He has acted in many family provision claims, informal will applications, and challenges to the validity of wills. He fearlessly advances his client’s matters towards their goals and has enjoyed strong success resolving matters without the need for a hearing. He is not averse to taking a matter to trial if his clients want that.

Tim also appears in the Guardianship Tribunal of the ACT, NSW and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and assists clients to make their own applications to those tribunals.

Tim holds a Master of Laws (Applied Law) majoring in Wills & Estates, he has taught and tutored Wills & Estates at the Australian National University, and he is a member of the ACT Law Society’s Elder Law & Succession Committee.
