When Kathryn graduated with her law degree in 1989 she knew that she wanted to work in an area that helped people directly. This led her to family law and Kathryn has worked in the area ever since.
Kathryn has honed her skills in dispute resolution and is a senior lawyer in Canberra. Kathryn is passionate about family law, estate planning and will disputes, Kathryn’s practice has been described by a good friend of hers as “family law for the dead and the living”.
Kathryn came to FGD in 2005 from her role as a Registrar of the Family Court. Assisting clients to reach agreements and achieving focused and creative settlements is her key focus. Kathryn believes strategic and targeted advice is critical in obtaining great outcomes for her clients.
Kathryn’s main objective is to achieve outcomes for clients that meet their needs and she does this with empathy, understanding and appreciation of the fragility of clients through relationship breakdown or with the death of loved ones.
The role of the ‘settlement lawyer’ is one that Kathryn relishes – this is demonstrated through her very strong commitment to collaborative law and the development of that practice among the Canberra and more broad Australian community.
Kathryn loves cooking and travelling. She spends her spare time down the coast at Broulee, scouring cookbooks or travel magazines and going walking. Her family recently acquired a puppy who is just adored. She is the very proud mother of two adult boys. All of Kathryn’s travels are planned around food experiences, exploring local markets and eating.
