Adam Bak

director

modern lawyer
Adam joined the firm in 2006, as an assisting secretary. His first taste of responsibility was walking Olivia Gesini’s dog, which he excelled at. After he was admitted, Adam quickly established himself as one of our leading litigation lawyers and has run some of the firm’s biggest cases in both parenting and property matters. He became a director of the firm in 2013. While he now tries to help his clients reach agreement he still regularly appears in Court and is one of our best advocates.

Adam has a particular interest (and expertise) in cases involving businesses, corporate structures and valuation issues. He represents both business owners and their spouses. Seeing both sides of the equation means Adam knows all the arguments for both sides. He understands balance sheets and complex financial documents as well as the commercial reality of running a business. Adam also runs a busy and successful parenting practice and has run a number of high conflict cases involving allegations of abuse of children, and he has been invited to present papers on how to manage such allegations in family law matters at national family law conferences. He regularly acts on both sides of such cases. And, because that’s just not enough for him, Adam also runs estate litigation and disputes and brings all his litigation and settlement experience to those cases.

Adam’s clients say that he is particularly good at formulating a strategy that meets their interests and works for them. He is well regarded by both his peers and Judges, but most importantly by his clients.

real person
Adam grew up in Canberra and loves all things Canberra, especially the lack of traffic. As well as law, he has a degree in sports management. He has never used it (until this profile) but still dreams of one day being Jerry Maguire. Adam plays golf and is a member at Royal Canberra. He also once ran 10km in 37 minutes (not any more, that’s for sure). Adam is also proud to be a Mentor in the Menslink Mentoring Program for Young Guys. In his youth, Adam starred in a range of television commercials, but sadly never cracked a breakthrough role. In the next five years Adam wants to get his pilot’s license.
